Lake Forest Park Towne Centre is an open-air neighborhood shopping center with an enclosed retail section. The property is anchored by Albertson’s, Third Place Books, Gold’s Gym, Rite Aid and other local convenience retailers. It was built in 1964 and redeveloped in 1988-89, expanding the existing Albertsons grocery store and relocating Payless Drug (since sold to Rite Aid). Located at the north end of Lake Washington, Lake Forest Park is a mature, relatively dense suburban market just 20 minutes northeast of downtown Seattle. As the only major shopping center in the area, it serves as the city's 'downtown.'
